The College Student plugin helps you build your own interactive study companion around your course materials and study goal. You choose the notes, readings, slides, and other context the plugin can use, then create practice quizzes, flashcards, guided tutoring, study guides, and other interactive materials that fit your course. Use it in ChatGPT Work or Codex, and keep doing the thinking yourself.

Create Interactive Study Materials in Three Steps

1. Open the College Student plugin in ChatGPT Work or Codex

Open the College Student plugin in the plugin directory. If your admin has made it available, install it before getting started; if your admin has already installed it for your role, open it directly in ChatGPT Work or Codex. Type @College Student to explore guided tutoring, interactive quizzes, practice tests, flashcards, study guides, and visualizations.

Choose the kind of interactive study materials you need now, such as a practice quiz, guided tutoring session, or flashcard deck.

2. Choose your study goal, course materials, and optional apps

Set a study goal, then choose the notes, slides, readings, or other course materials the College Student plugin should use. Decide whether you want help only from those sources or whether General Knowledge may be used, and enable it explicitly if you do.

You can also connect an app through the plugin when one is available in your workspace. Open the plugin's available connected apps, select the one that contains your course materials, and follow the sign-in and permission steps. Availability depends on your workspace settings, role, and account permissions.

A connected app is optional for these launch plugins. If one is not available or needed, continue with uploaded files, pasted text, or other course materials you are allowed to use. Add only the sources that support your study goal.

3. Ask the plugin to create interactive study materials

Each prompt should name your study goal, selected course materials, the kind of interactive practice you want, and when the plugin should wait for your answer.

Starter Prompts for Interactive Study Materials

Prompt 1: Create an interactive study guide and practice quiz

@College Student Use the attached reading and lecture notes to help me prepare for my quiz on [topic]. First, create an interactive study guide organized into short sections and point back to the relevant source pages. After I choose a section, quiz me one question at a time. Wait for my answer, give feedback using the course sources, and tell me what I should review next.

Prompt 2: Turn weak areas into guided practice and flashcards

@College Student tutor me on [section or concept] using the course materials I selected. Ask one question at a time, wait for my answer, and then explain what I understood and what I should revisit. Finish by creating five interactive flashcards and a short retrieval-practice check based on the concepts I found most difficult.
