ChatGPT Edu 101 for K-12

Join the OpenAI Education team for a practical introduction to ChatGPT Edu and its everyday applications across K–12 schools and districts. This live session is designed for teachers, school staff, and education leaders who are new to ChatGPT or who want a guided introduction to using it effectively in their professional work.

We’ll explore the ChatGPT Edu workspace, demonstrate the fundamentals of writing useful prompts, and show how to improve responses by adding relevant context and asking follow-up questions. Examples will include lesson planning, adapting instructional materials, drafting family and staff communications, summarizing resources, organizing information, and supporting common administrative workflows.

In this session, you’ll learn how to:

• Navigate the ChatGPT Edu workspace and start a productive conversation.

• Create clearer prompts by identifying your goal, audience, context, and desired output.

• Refine responses through follow-up questions and thoughtful iteration.

• Apply ChatGPT to teaching, planning, communication, and school or district operations.

• Evaluate outputs for accuracy, usefulness, and alignment with professional expectations.

• Follow district guidance around privacy, responsible use, and appropriate information sharing.

No prior ChatGPT experience is required. Participants who already have access to their district’s ChatGPT Edu workspace are encouraged to sign in before joining.

This session repeats the foundational material from the August 18 ChatGPT Edu 101 offering. Participants only need to attend one 101 session. A recording will be available for those who cannot attend live.
