OpenAI Nonprofit AI Jam 2025

# Nonprofits

One Day. Ten Hubs. 1,000 Nonprofit Innovators.

What is the Nonprofit AI Jam?

A nationwide, hands-on event where nonprofit teams build practical AI solutions in a single day–guided by OpenAI Academy facilitators, trusted technical mentors, local partners, and peer collaboration. Join us on July 17 in person for an all day event at 10 regional hubs (see list below). Participants will also have access to a self-paced virtual Bootcamp—available on demand—to help them get ready for Jam Day.

OpenAI’s mission is to ensure AI benefits everyone, including nonprofit organizations. By giving frontline nonprofits free, hands-on access to state-of-the-art tools - we hope to help organizations close the capacity gap and shape future products and policies that advance equitable AI adoption by learning from their real world challenges.

Why participate?

  1. Tangible outcome: walk away with a prototype or workflow you can implement in your day-to-day work.
  2. Tailored learning: a short Bootcamp (four 1-hour sessions) created for nonprofit organizations will help learn AI basics and prepare you for the Jam. No prior tech expertise required. The Bootcamp will be available on-demand so you can watch on your own schedule.
  3. Community: join peers, experts, local leaders, and potential funders committed to responsibly leveraging AI to support social impact.
  4. Free to participate: registration is free; limited travel and lodging support available for those who need it (see below).

Eligibility & Expectations

  1. 501(c)(3) status (or equivalent fiscal sponsorship).
  2. Up to two representatives can attend in person and complete the virtual Bootcamp.
  3. Commitment to our code of conduct and willingness to share non-proprietary learnings with the community.

Partners

The Nonprofit AI Jam is made possible through the generous support and collaboration of our partners: Walton Family Foundation, Emerson Collective, Decoded Futures, National Center for Civic Innovation, and Fund for the City of New York. In addition to our national partners, this initiative is brought to life in collaboration with over fifteen exceptional regional partners that are co-hosting the Nonprofit Jam across the country.
