Minutes Matter: Visual Communication for Emergency Response

Learn how to use images and video to support emergency response professionals in disaster preparedness, coordination, and public communication.
When minutes matter, a clear visual can help people understand what to do and how teams work together. Join Laura Keenan for a practical webinar exploring how ChatGPT can support visual communication for emergency response.
Through a fictional city storm-response exercise, we’ll demonstrate how to create public preparedness graphics, visualize shelter setup and volunteer equipment, and explain interagency coordination. We’ll also explore how an illustrative traffic simulation can help teams discuss the effects of road closures.
You’ll learn how to: • Turn a communication goal into a clear visual prompt. • Create social media graphics that explain storm preparedness. • Use architectural visualizations and flat lays for shelter and volunteer planning. • Make interagency coordination easier to understand with diagrams. • Review AI-generated visuals for clarity, accuracy, and appropriate use.
This session is designed for emergency management, public affairs, public works, volunteer coordination, and other government professionals. No design experience is required.
The demonstrations use fictional scenarios and illustrative visuals; they do not replace official alerts, approved site plans, equipment training, or operational judgment.
