AI for Everyday Living: A Beginner Workshop for Older Adults
This session is presented by our community partner, OATS from AARP.
This resource was produced by OATS, a trusted partner in AI education. While OpenAI Academy shares it here, it does not necessarily represent OpenAI’s own views. Founded in 2004, Older Adults Technology Services (OATS) from AARP is a social impact organization with a mission to “harness the power of technology to change the way we age.” OATS aims to empower older adults with the tools and training necessary to take advantage of today’s technology and use it to enrich their lives. Through its flagship program, Senior Planet from AARP, OATS works closely with older adults to create extraordinary experiences in-person and online.
Join us for a friendly, hands-on workshop designed to help older adults explore the basics of artificial intelligence. We’ll walk through what AI is, how tools like ChatGPT work, and simple ways you can use them in your daily life— from staying organized to getting help with writing, planning, or learning new skills.
You'll walk away with:
- Hands-on experience practicing real scenarios—like drafting emails, summarizing documents, or getting step-by-step guidance on new topics.
- An understanding of safety and privacy basics, including what information to share, what to avoid, and how to use AI responsibly.
- Tips for using AI to stay connected, whether that's helping with communication, learning, or exploring new hobbies.
This course is geared towards beginners.
