Part 1 of 3: "AI 101 for Nonprofits" - This is the first video in a three-part virtual bootcamp series created by the Fund for the City of New York for OpenAI Academy. Designed for nonprofit and community-based organizations, this session introduces the basics of artificial intelligence—what it is, how it works, and why it matters. No technical background required. Learn how AI can expand the capacity of the the nonprofit sector and what it could mean for your organization.

Part 1: AI 101 for Nonprofits

This is the second video in our series for nonprofits, produced by the Fund for the City of New York in collaboration with OpenAI Academy. This session focuses on the principles of responsible AI use—exploring equity, privacy, transparency, and safety--and answering many of the most common questions raised by nonprofits curious about AI. You'll learn how to spot common risks, apply simple safeguards, and use AI in a way that aligns with your community values and organizational ethics.



Part 2: AI Ethics, Policy, Safety for Nonprofits

The final video in this three-part series dives into practical, intermediate-level tips for using ChatGPT effectively in a nonprofit setting. Created by the Fund for the City of New York for OpenAI Academy, this session walks through features like custom instructions, file uploads, and GPTs—helping you go from beginner to confident user. If your organization is ready to move from experimentation to real-world application, this is your next step.

Part 3: Advanced Features of ChatGPT

Your basic ChatGPT account has some special tricks up its sleeve. Go beyond simple chats and explore ChatGPT’s next-level capabilities for more efficient and impactful work. Features include GPTs, Canvas, Projects, and Deep Research. This session is designed for people who have already had several hours of experimentation with a generative AI tool such as ChatGPT. No knowledge of computer science, machine learning, coding or even how AI actually works is necessary - this is an entirely practical session. A 60 minute presentation will be followed by a special 30 minute Q&A session featuring experts from OpenAI.

Advanced Features for Nonprofits

Whether you've never tried AI or are already experimenting, this informal session will introduce key concepts, share several useful demos, and introduce a basic framework to help you and your organization safely and ethically get immediate use from off-the-shelf AI tools like ChatGPT. A 60 minute presentation will be followed by a special 30 minute Q&A session featuring experts from OpenAI.
